"I get my head out from behind my screen . . ."
I want to share my appreciation for The Gardening Tutor. Mary Frost and I met when she was my teacher of Ornamental Pruning at Santa Rosa Junior College. I was so impressed with her knowledge I hired her to work with me at my home. Since then we have been working every area of the landscape around our home. This process has been personally transformative. I experience an immediate stress reduction when I get my head out from behind my screen and enter a world that Mary shows me—nature, its rhythms, and its secrets. Having Mary work with me regularly gets me into my garden which I have now begun to look at as a treat and not a chore. Along the way Mary has taught me skills such as, pruning, fertilizing, when to plant, and drip irrigation. I take these skills with me when I visit my father to care for his yard. Who knew that having the confidence to replace a drip system emitter would feel so empowering? By giving my yard more care and attention thanks to Mary’s help, I now reap the benefits like having continual fresh cut flowers from my garden in my kitchen. I highly recommend Mary if you want to develop a loving and rewarding relationship with your own yard.
